About

Woodmont’s Small Group Ministry is led by a team of two staff members and a lay leader!

Jay Hutchens is the Executive Pastor at Woodmont and over Small Groups and Discipleship. Jay observes, “I’ve been involved in small groups all of my life! It’s in small gatherings that we make our deepest connections with others and where we build our most intimate friendships. It’s where we test our inner-thoughts, receive a little wisdom, and give and take encouragement. Small groups, at their best, are spiritual extensions of family. And that appears to be God’s design for how we can thrive in community!” Contact Jay – jayhutchens@woodmontcc.org

Tammy Morgan is Connections Director at Woodmont and works closely with Small Groups Ministry. Tammy describes her love for small groups – “There is just something special about the bond that forms through small groups. We know that those people are there for us and we are there for them through a love that is like no other. A small group can help people within the same life stage, allowing them to express themselves with others who understand. It may be a way to dive deeper into Spiritual practices. Or it may just be a fun way to be with others in community and build relationships. We all need this kind of love to share together.” Contact Tammy – tammy@woodmontcc.org

Mary Welsh Owen is a long-time member, elder, former-board chair, and active small group proponent at Woodmont! She writes, “I’ve never thought of our church as a mega church, but it is big. Different services, different demographics, different seasons of life can make us feel disconnected. My most favorite thing about small groups is it makes our church feel smaller! Even if initially, we may feel like two of us in a small group have little in common, we 100% of the time, find something to connect about. I have found some most beautiful blessings from a small group – a smile and a hug whenever we see each other, a meaningful discussion, a chance to mentor their child in the Discipleship Class (I learned so much from her!), attending a marriage and a celebration of life, are all some of our blessings from small groups.  Sharing a meal with a small group is one of my favorite things in the world , but my great joy about small groups is creating our extended family.” Contact Mary – mwowen1123@gmail.com
